The tough part is to keep moving… With enough effort it is sure that you’ll reach your target and achieve the appreciation that you deserve!
Positive reviews are the targets for any business, but negative reviews also mean that you are at least moving. Just in the undesired direction. Think of it as; you were steering in the wrong direction, and you saw the signboard. Now just move in the right direction.
What are the negative reviews?
These are indications that a client or customer whom you served was not satisfied with your goods or services. Probably the product didn’t meet the expectation, or the care or attention was not enough or something similar. Yet, it hinted you to do better in what you’ve been doing. Even more, negative reviews show exactly where to focus and improve.
Why are the negative reviews scary?
The reviews, by default, are meant to be laid out in public. Which means… if a negative review that someone left for your business is visible, you’ll most probably lose a few potential customers. And in the digital platform, search engines are quick to pick up these reviews. So, your user-generated content might have even more visibility than your business itself. Scary enough, yet manageable!
Now time to smile!
There are two common ways to go about these negative reviews. You could either build your business around the nail that hits you Or you could let the dead bury the dead and work for the alive.
Building your business around the pointed nail!
Like previously mentioned, your negative review was a hint of a mismatch between your offering and what the receiver expected. Now, either you can offer to change yourself or to change the offering.
Changing yourself means that you could change the product or service, improving, improvising, adding to it.
And, changing your offering means changing the packaging to set the correct expectation.
But, if you want to avoid the pain of the nail altogether, then don’t over-promise and under-deliver. It is that simple!
Next,
Letting the dead bury the dead and working for the alive!
Though this may not sound right completely, if some pain-in-the-a** tries to destroy your reputation with negative reviews about your product, service, or company as a whole, you’re better off focusing your energy on making things right for the new customers.
You can always have a few negative reviews as long as you are working towards getting some positive feedback publicly from newer customers. Surprisingly, most people care about the latest reviews more than the old ones.
And caring about the latest reviews is logical too. So rather than chasing the old pissed-off customer who due to his personal issues, left a bad review for your business, it is only wise to follow the new customers.
However, it doesn’t mean that you are open to making no efforts for improvement. Continuous analysis and improvement on these are necessary to ensure that you get less or no negative customer reviews.
